Antibody & Protein Labeling Service

Active Motif Chromeon's Custom Labeling Service

Using Active Motif Chromeon's custom conjugation service couldn't be easier. Simply supply us with your protein or antibody of interest and we will use our high-efficiency labeling protocols to custom conjugate it to our unique Chromeo Dyes. So whether you are using FACS to analyze a single cell, multiplexing using multiple dyes, or looking to biotin conjugate antibodies to provide signal amplification through binding of avidin, consider the convenience of combining the antibodies you know and trust with leading conjugates from Active Motif Chromeon.

To select the Chromeo Dye that's right for your needs, check out the excitation and emission properties of our dyes by clicking here.

Tubulin staining of Hela Cells by using a) Chromeo 546- and b) Chromeo 488-conjugated secondary antibodies.

The service includes

  • Conjugation of 1-5 mg of protein
  • Purification of the labeled protein by size exclusion chromatography
  • Analysis of the conjugate
    • fluorescent properties (emission and absorption spectra)
    • determination of protein concentration
    • determination of dye-to-protein ratio

The estimated turnaround time is 1-2 weeks from the receipt of the antibody or protein and purchase order.

We are committed to giving our best effort to achieve a successful outcome. However, due to the nature of protein conjugation we cannot guarantee the exact yield or biological activity of final material. When labeling secondary antibodies, we normally reach recovery rates of 80% of protein. Please provide as much information on your antibody as is possible in order to get the best possible chance for a successful conjugation.

We will conjugate the antibodies under mild conditions, giving the best results to maintain the binding properties and capacities of the antibodies or relevant proteins.

To ensure a successful labeling, we require at least 1.0 mg of antibody or protein. Antibodies may be lyophilized or supplied in buffer solution. However, buffers should not contain additional proteins or other primary amines (e.g Tris or glycine) as they will interfere with dye-labeling efficiency. If necessary, replace the original buffer with 100 mM phosphate buffered saline (PBS).

Please note that because glycerol also reduces dye labeling efficiency, supplied antibodies should not be resuspended in buffer containing glycerol.
